Mario also has extensive experience as an music educator.
In 2001 he completed his post graduation studies and received an M/Mus in Jazz Composition at Napier University.
Over the last 10 years Mario has taught at Strathclyde University, Perth College, Stevenson College (where he still teaches) and Napier University (where he also teaches), helping to form a new generation of bassists who are now playing in the UK scene.
He has also been the regular bass tutor at the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Scotland Summer Course , The Napier Jazz Summer Course and The Fyfe Youth Jazz Orchestra Summer Course.
Always involved with musical education, he is constantly working side by side with the most innovative and dynamic jazz educators in the U.K. teaching acoustic bass, electric bass & improvisation.
He has organised and taught several Brazilian/Latin Music workshops for people of all age groups.
Mario also works as a trainer for ABC Creative Music, teaching improvisation and creative strategies visiting primary schools all over Scotland.
He also works for Thick Skinned Productions, doing jazz and improvisation workshops in secondary schools.
Mario is currently developing a program of Brazilian/Afro-Cuban/New Orleans rhythm workshops alongside Australian trombonist and composer Chris Greive. |
